The Rogue 28MM Training Bar is designed, machined, and assembled at the Rogue factory in Columbus, Ohio using the same steel shaft and uniform knurl pattern as our Olympic WL Bar. In place of the Oly Bar’s bearing sleeves, however, the Training Bar is assembled with bronze bushings in the style of the Rogue Ohio Bar. The result is a more cost-efficient, intermediate bar for athletes who still want the look and feel of a competition-ready Olympic barbell.
The quality U.S. steel used in the 28MM Training Bar meets a minimum tensile strength of 190 KSI, and each shaft is individually tested for straightness to within 0.015” (0.38mm). The bar is finished with Black Zinc shaft with Bright Zinc Sleeves.
Key Features
-
The Rogue 28MM Training Bar: is built entirely in the United States at Rogue’s factory in Columbus, Ohio, using high-grade steel sourced from the U.S. and Europe. It has a 28 mm diameter shaft—the same size used on many Olympic weightlifting bars. The shaft material is rated with a tensile strength of 190,000 PSI, which means it can handle a lot of stress under heavy lifts without deforming.
-
To ensure straightness, each shaft is individually tested, tolerating no more than about 0.015 inches (≈0.38 mm) deviation from perfect straightness. This helps assure its stability under load.
-
For its sleeves, rather than high-cost bearings, it uses bronze bushings, which still allow decent rotation/spin but with greater durability and less maintenance in many conditions.
-
The bar’s finish is a mix: the shaft is finished in Black Zinc, while the sleeves are coated in Bright Zinc. These finishes offer corrosion resistance while retaining good feel and look. Black Zinc is generally more affordable than more exotic finishes like stainless steel or cerakote.
-
Knurling follows the Olympic standard: it has the “Olympic knurl marks” and uses a full uniform knurl pattern without a center knurl. The absence of center knurl makes certain lifts (front rack, cleans) more comfortable. The knurl pattern is firm enough for grip but is not overly aggressive.
-
Regarding size & load capacity: the total length of the bar is about 86.6 inches, and each loadable sleeve (the portion where weight plates go) is around 16.25 inches long. It is a 20 kg (≈ 44 lb) bar.
-
The durability rating is F6-R on Rogue’s F-Scale, which is their system to measure how well bars hold up under repeated use like overhead drops, etc. It also comes with a lifetime warranty against bending (not covering misuse or undue damage).
