Use your child’s height and inseam (leg length) to find the right bike size. Wheel sizes typically go:
12″: ~85–110 cm height
14″: ~95–110 cm
16″: ~100–120 cm
20″: ~115–135 cm
24″: ~125–145 cm
These ranges help ensure the fit is safe and comfortable.
Height and inseam are more accurate predictors of fit than age—kids grow at different rates. Matching wheel size to leg length ensures your child can stand over the frame safely and reach controls easily.
Once your child can comfortably stand over the bike with feet flat and is showing confidence with balance, it’s time to transition. Many kids switch to pedal bikes around 4–5 years old, often starting with training wheels then upgrading.
Simple coaster (pedal) brakes suit younger riders because they’re intuitive: pedal back to stop. Older kids (from 20″ models) can move to hand brakes, ideal for stronger grip and preparing them for adult riding.
Lighter bikes are easier to handle. Aluminum frames are preferable over steel as they reduce weight and improve maneuverability. A lighter bike helps kids ride with more control and reduces fatigue
Measure your child’s inseam and height, then compare with size charts on our product pages. Ensure the seat height is adjustable and the handlebars are reachable. If possible, try a quick test ride or use the “stand-over” check—feet flat, seat low enough to let knees bend comfortably.
